As the NFL season comes to a close there are 5 things that I have noticed.
1. The Patriots are not as much of a lock for the Super Bowl as people think. I know that they destroyed the Steelers, Jets, and Bears, but lets be real. I still do not trust the Patriots defense. The Jets and Bears have very average offenses. There is a formula to beat them. Run the football, hug up on their receivers and get after Brady. They may very well win the Super Bowl this year, but there is still a lot of football yet to play.
2. Michael Vick and Tom Brady are the only 2 players that should be mentioned for MVP. These 2 QBs get it done in different ways, but they are the best at how they do it. No two players (other than Peyton Manning ) mean more to their team and then these two. Both are having excellent seasons and a Super Bowl match up between these two would be classic.
3. When did we start teaching kids that leading with your head was the proper way to tackle. As a former player that has suffered multiple concussions, I can assure you that the helmet is protective equipment, not a weapon. Not only is it dangerous for the player being speared, but the player doing the spearing as well. I've never seen so many tacklers getting hurt with neck and head injuries as I've seen this year. God provided you with shoulder pads for a reason. Use them!!!
4. New Orleans gets no love. I don't think that I've ever seen a defending Super Bowl champ get disrespected like the Saints this year. They are 10-3 and when you hear people talk about the best teams in the NFL, they are barely mentioned. I feel that they should be favorites in the NFC. That offense is sick and the D is starting to turn teams over like they did last year. In my opinion, until the champs are dethroned they should be the favorites.
5. My Cowboys get the crown "Most Disappointing Team". This has to be the biggest waste of talent that I've seen this year. They are 1-6 at home. It is a shame that they did not play hard for Wade Phillips. Last time I checked you get paid to play this game. NFL players should not have to be motivated to play a game that their fans would kill to have the ability and opportunity to play. With that being said, I think that Jerry Jones would be a fool not to hire Jason Garrett as the new head coach. He is the closest thing to Jimmie Johnson that the Cowboys can get and this group needs a coach that will hold them accountable for there play on the field.
